A hidden gem in green and gold. The "Twenty-Eight", known for thir call, The Australian Ringneck is a parrot with many faces — literally. There are several subspecies across the country, with the Port Lincoln Parrot being one of the most recognisable in the west. These curious birds love woodland areas and are often spotted flying low in pairs or small groups, chattering softly. While not endangered overall, habitat loss is affecting some subspecies, especially the Mallee ringneck. They nest in tree hollows and enjoy a varied diet of seeds, fruit, and nectar — always with a glint of mischief in their eyes.
