Comical, loud, and a little unhinged — the corella is the joker of the cockatoo family. There are a few species (including the Little Corella and Long-billed Corella) and all are known for their ear-piercing calls and love of group antics. They’re playful, intelligent, and known to hang upside-down from powerlines or trees just because they can. While they’re not endangered, corellas are increasingly moving into urban areas, sometimes clashing with humans and damaging infrastructure. Still, with their expressive eyes and quirky behaviour, it’s hard to stay mad for long.
